RADIOLOGY & DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING
At times, your pet may require diagnostic imaging such as radiographs (x-rays), ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to help diagnose his or her condition or monitor treatment.
Hope Veterinary Specialists conveniently offers all these services in one location, using the most advanced equipment, to ensure your pet's condition is diagnosed in a timely fashion.
Our digital radiography equipment provides images in seconds that can be interpreted by one of our 2 board-certified radiologists. Not only is digital radiography fast, but it also allows an image to be manipulated to make it clearer. We can zoom in on an image, and we can make it lighter or darker—whatever technique allows our team to obtain the best picture of your pet's condition. Our radiologists work closely with our in-house specialists and with referring veterinarians to review and interpret radiographs in a timely fashion. Our advanced technology allows them to view images from home and provide a phone consultation with in-hospital personnel as necessary.
Hope VS also provides the latest in ultrasound technology, with ultrasound services available 6 days a week and on an emergency basis on Sundays and holidays. Ultrasonography, like digital radiography, in most cases, does not require anesthesia and provides real-time images of the abdomen and other parts of the body to help diagnose illnesses. An ultrasound examination typically lasts 20 to 30 minutes and requires your pet’s hair to be clipped around the area being evaluated.
We use the GE 16-slice CT 4-dimensional scanner to obtain detailed diagnostic images, in reduced time, for cancer diagnosis and radiation treatment planning. The scanner is 3 to 4 times faster than conventional machines and offers much greater detail than can be seen in regular radiographs. As a result, our patients experience less time under anesthesia and more time with you. It also enables our radiologists to plan treatment in accordance with the patients’ surgical or radiation needs.
MRI is a key tool in providing images of soft tissue, including the brain and central nervous system. Hope VS has access to a GE 1.5 Tesla MRI provided by Vet Imaging Partners on location at Hope VS. The MRI study images are conveniently interpreted on-site by our radiologists. Because pets just won’t lay still on their own for the duration of an MRI study, anesthesia is always required, and a board-certified anesthesiologist oversees the administration of the anesthetic drugs.
CT and MRI services are available by appointment only, please call 610-296-2099 to schedule.
Everyone there is so positive and professional, and, although we came there for a sad reason, we are so grateful to have met all of you.
