Hope VS has some exciting news to share with you! Kim Slensky, DVM, DACVECC was selected out of 3,100 nominations from pet parents across the county as 2014 Petplan’s Veterinarian of the Year Award winner! Kim and her husband Brett were flown to Viva Las Vegas this past weekend for the 2014 Veterinary Awards Dinner held in concert with the 86th Western Veterinary Conference. Kim’s nomination was selected by an independent judging panel, comprised of 12 prominent pet health professionals and veterinarians, who volunteered their time and expertise to evaluate the three finalists in each category of practice of the year, veterinarian of the year, technician of the year, and practice manager of the year. The winners were selected for their commitment to providing an exceptional level of care to pets, delivering exemplary customer service to pet parents, and showing devotion to educating and improving their communities.
Dr. Slensky’s nomination struck a chord with Petplan because it not only described the lengths she goes to for her four-legged patients – it gave them insight into her leadership skills, dedication and empathy. It was clear that Dr. Slensky not only delivers exceptional veterinary care (with heart!), but she also demonstrates leadership and acts as an example for her fellow caregivers in an emergency setting. Her compassion, dedication and veterinary acumen clearly go above and beyond the norm.
“I’ve known Dr. Slensky for my entire career in veterinary emergency and critical care. I watched her complete her residency and develop her skills as an outstanding and committed specialist in her field. Working beside her, I’ve seen her dedicate 110% to every one of her patients. I’ve even witnessed her husband drive one of her labs into work so they could donate blood to save the lives of her patients. She possesses patience, empathy, organization and leadership, and her client communication is exceptional. Kim has always been my favorite doctor to work beside. She is calm, laid back, respectful, smart, and attentive to her patients and my concerns for them. She deals with any challenge that comes her way and remains cool as a cucumber. She isn’t afraid to hold back either. When she sees an area of improvement or growth that is needed for the practice she is a strong force and others also share in my respect for her. Personally and professionally Dr. Slensky will always be my #1 vet of all time!” – Amy S., colleague
Here’s why we think she stands out above the rest everyday…
“I believe that every patient deserves my best effort, every day. I think it’s simple, but true…I am a patient advocate, a clinician, a care taker and at times, a psychologist (without formal training of course!). But the bottom line every day is that I will do whatever I can to improve the quality of life of those patients that are entrusted to my care.” Kim Slensky, DVM, DAVECC
