Dr. Lauren May received board certification in surgery from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2010. She has a professional interest for surgical oncology but performs all aspects of soft tissue surgery and orthopedics including TPLO's. She is also trained in minimally invasive soft tissue surgery.
Dr. May graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She completed a 1-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, followed by residencies in small animal surgery at the University of California, Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following her residencies, Dr. May worked at a private practice in upstate New York for 3 years, performing orthopedic, neurologic, and soft tissue surgery. Dr. May attended Virginia Tech with a major in Animal and Poultry Sciences and a minor in chemistry and biochemistry.
Dr. May has contributed to publications in both peer-reviewed veterinary journals and chapters in veterinary textbooks. She is a Pennsylvania native and has two dogs, a black lab mix and a new Frenchie puppy. She enjoys spending time with her two young boys, yoga and volunteering for YoungMoms Community in Kennett Square, Delaware Humane Association, and a monthly respite night with specials needs kids.
