Dr. Kevin Shanley has been board certified in dermatology by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology since 1985. His special interests include allergic skin disease, ear diseases, autoimmune skin diseases, and adverse drug reactions affecting the skin of dogs and cats.
He graduated from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in Indiana in 1981 and completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985. He was an assistant professor of veterinary dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania for 7 years before entering private practice in the Philadelphia area in 1993.
Dr. Shanley is originally from Indiana but now lives in Malvern, Pennsylvania. He and his family have 4 dogs, a Yorkshire terrier, a Cairn terrier, and 2 golden retrievers. Dr. Shanley is an avid bicyclist and often participates in bicycling events that benefit local and national charitable organizations.
Dr. Shanley has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of veterinary dermatology topics. He has published numerous research studies and clinical investigative reports in the Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Dermatology, and other scientific journals.
Dr. Shanley is a member of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
