Dr. Kate Vickery has over 10 years of experience as a veterinary oncologist and is also a certified veterinary acupuncturist. She has been board certified in medical oncology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine since 2008 and in 2015 received certification in acupuncture from the Chi Institute under the guidance of Dr. Huisheng Xie, one of the world’s leading experts in veterinary acupuncture. Dr. Vickery places a strong emphasis on patient care and supporting the quality of life of her patients. She uses acupuncture, in conjunction with traditional cancer treatments (chemotherapy, immunotherapy), as a way to help support her patients and potentially decrease side effects while undergoing cancer treatment. Dr. Vickery also provides consultation and acupuncture treatment for patients with non-cancer ailments.
Dr. Vickery graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 and completed a 3-year combined residency and MS in medical oncology and cancer biology at the Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University in 2008. She received her BS summa cum laude from King's College, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1998.
Dr. Vickery lives in the Philadelphia suburbs with her husband, rescue cats Betty and Louise, and terrier mix Lucy. In her free time she enjoys practicing yoga, trail hiking, and camping.
