Dr. Brian Bretz has been board certified in surgery by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2010. He has clinical interests in orthopedic, soft tissue, oncologic, and neurologic surgery and extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery, including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, and thoracoscopy. He also enjoys lecturing on all aspects of surgery—whether to other veterinary professionals in an educational setting or to pet owners considering surgery for their feline or canine companions.
Dr. Bretz graduated from the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 and completed a 1-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Garden State Veterinary Specialists. He went on to complete a residency in small animal surgery at Tufts University and the Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston in 2009. Following his residency, he joined a private practice in the northern Philadelphia region before joining Hope Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Bretz obtained a BS in veterinary science from the University of California, Davis, in 2001 andcompleted the Executive MBA program at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business, in 2016.
Dr. Bretz lives in Malvern with his wife, a veterinary radiation oncologist, their daughter, and 2 cats. In his spare time, he enjoys running, scuba diving, and traveling.
