Hope is about 85 miles from my home and I wish that we had a place like Hope nearby…It was a "wow" experience. Everyone was so nice and caring of both Raven and I.
The Anesthesia and Pain Management Service works with all other specialties at Hope VS to provide safe and comfortable sedation and anesthesia for your pet for a variety of diagnostic and surgical procedures. Care is overseen by Dr. Sandra Perkowski, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. The most advanced tools are available to monitor your pet under anesthesia including electrocardiography, capnography, pulse oximetry, and direct and indirect arterial blood pressure. The service utilizes advanced techniques to control pain including local blocks, spinal and epidural anesthesia, specific nerve blocks, continuous drug infusions and catheter-delivered local anesthetics. We can provide advanced ventilation and airway management in order to allow surgery and diagnosis in difficult to anesthetize patients and for advanced procedures. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns about how anesthesia may be involved in your pet’s care.
In addition to overseeing daily anesthesia services at Hope, Dr. Perkowski is available for consultation regarding anesthesia or pain management and will see referral cases in this regard. We are happy to help develop a plan for difficult to manage anesthesia or pain-related cases.
While specific service hours are not currently available, Hope VS is open 24/7 and we are happy to respond rapidly to the needs of veterinarians and pet owners.
