Kate Vickery, VMD, MS, Diplomate ACVIM, CVA
Dr. Kate Vickery attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. She then went on to complete a three year combined Residency and Master’s Degree in Medical Oncology and Cancer Biology at the world renowned, Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University.
Dr Vickery places strong emphasis on patient care and supporting the quality of life of her patients. After 10 years in practice she decided to take this to the next level and elected to enroll in acupuncture certification studies. She currently uses acupuncture, in conjunction with traditional cancer treatments, as a way to help support her patients and potentially decrease side effects, while undergoing cancer treatment. Dr Vickery studied at the world renowned, Chi Institute, under guidance of Dr. Huisheng Xie, one of the world’s leading experts in Veterinary Acupuncture. Dr Vickery will provide consultation and acupuncture treatment for patients with non-cancer ailments as well.
Dr Vickery has published research articles in peer reviewed journals including, Veterinary Comparative Oncology and Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine. She is an active participant and collaborator for veterinary clinical trials. She has lectured nationally to veterinarians on the topics of Veterinary Oncology and Veterinary Acupuncture. Dr Vickery serves on the Executive Committee for Veterinary Cancer Society, served as Chair of the Oncology Forum Planning Committee for the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (2011-2014), and served as Executive Chair for 2014 Puppy Up! Philly Walk, a fundraising walk for The 2 Million Dogs Foundation, a non-profit that provides grants for cancer research. Dr Vickery is a member of the Veterinary Cancer Society, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, American Veterinary Medical Association, and American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture.
