Suzanne Donahue, VMD, DACVECC

Dr. Suzanne Donahue attended King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Thereafter, she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery in 2000, a fellowship in emergency medicine in 2001, and a three-year residency in emergency and critical care in 2004, all at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Donahue is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. She has received numerous research grants and has published in the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. Dr. Donahue has lectured at the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Symposium and at the national AKC conference.

Dr. Donahue’s areas of research and publishing have included hematology and hypercoagulability, and she has been instrumental in validating the use of thromboelastography, a tool to detect and measure hypercoagulability, in veterinary patients. This background gives Dr. Donahue distinctive and important skills in evaluating and treating critically ill patients with disorders of hypercoagulability, such as feline aortic thromboembolism, pulmonary thromboembolism, and disseminated intravascular coagulopathy.
